Situated on 38 acres of pristine aquatic environment and south Floridian paradise, the Miami Seaquarium® is home to a number of unique and beautiful marine animals. Opened originally in 1955 by visionary Fred D. Coppock, Miami Seaquarium® has experienced steady growth and advancements ever since. It has been the filming location for multiple television shows and movies and has also survived its’ share of hurricanes and rough Floridian weather. Today, the Miami Seaquarium® continues to thrive and delight visitors from around the world.
Some of the exhibits of the Miami Seaquarium® include; Penguin Isle, Top Deck Dolphin Pool, Shark Channel, and the Reef Tank. If you are interested in exploring some of these exhibits at a deeper level, there are many special programs that are available within the park. For instance, at the Reef Tank, which is an enormous tank of 300,000 gallons of tropical reef life, you can participate in a program where you are fitted with a professional dive helmet and are submersed in to the tank. When you are in the tank, you can experience the variety of sea animals on an up-close and personal level, but in a safely-controlled environment.
Throughout the Miami Seaquarium®, you can enjoy viewing sharks, manatees, crocodiles, penguins, dolphins, porpoises, whales, harbor seals, sea lions, sea turtles, and a huge variety of other sea-dwelling animals. The Miami Seaquarium® promotes sea life education by providing presentations and animals shows on a daily basis, as well as having many educational opportunities throughout the various exhibits.
If you would like to visit a place unlike any other, then plan a visit to the Miami Seaquarium®. It is opened every day of the year for your enjoyment. Park officials recommend that visitors allow at least 4-5 hours for a visit, in order to have ample time to grasp all that the park has to offer.
